Close to Vdnkh (= Economic Achievements of the USSR) metro station can found some interesting monuments. One of the is 100 metres high Space obelisk representing a rocket lifting off. It was erected in 1964, three years after Yuriy Gagarin's historic flight. Underneath it is the space museum where you can find for example (stuffed) dogs Belka and Strelka – they were the first creatures to come back from space alive. Laika who is more famous in western countries unfortunately died :-(  More soviet time stuff can be found at the All-Russian Exhibition Centre close by :-D If you want to stay over night, a massive hotel called Space might be interesting choise... Here I finally found one post office too... not that I need their services so much because mailing system is quite unrealiable.
